Can you explain what the POSitive Commerce System is and how it works? I'm interested to understand how it will benefit me.

Essentially you tell PRM (POSitive Retail Manager) which items you want to display online. You click a button to upload those items.
The following details are uploaded:
- SKU number
- Description
- Brief note
- Extended detail note
- Price
- Product image
- Department/Category
The items are displayed on the site by department and category just the way they are set up in PRM.
The web site is hosted by POSitive (this is a core requirement)
The site is created in Joomla, an Open Source CMS (Content Management System) (www.joomla.org )
The Shopping cart uses VirtueMart – the top Open Source Shopping cart around for Joomla (www.virtuemart.com )
Open Source means that Joomla and VirtueMart are free. You must host on POSitive’s Servers because of customized programming that POSitive adds to the PRM, Joomla and VirtueMart systems as well as some separate custom data handlers that they have on their servers to process the incoming and outgoing data.
So even though those major components (Joomla and VirtuMart) are free the value added functions you are actually paying for includes the following unique to PRM features:
One button upload to the website. That means if you change a price on 10 items in PRM today you don’t need to go online and change those items there as well. Industry standard time to modify items on a website by hand is 20 minutes per item. Not with PRM… Change the price, click a button. Your prices on 10 or 100 or 1000 items are changed virtually instantly.
Only manage one inventory database. PRM – the same data you manage your store with also manages your online store. The web store is literally an online view of your items for sale.
When a customer buys something from the web store the POSitive server sends an encrypted order via e-mail – a single button click in PRM will retrieve the order. The customer record is created, an Internet order is created with all the items plus calculated shipping, and even the customer’s credit card is included for processing through your normal credit card handling procedures. This time savings is immense. If you had to manually re-create this information you would spend 10-20 minutes per order doing mundane data entry. Again 1 button click downloads everything about the order.
In short you are subscribing to a ROUND TRIP e-commerce data solution, a single button click uploads all items and their various prices, descriptions and images, and a single button click downloads all orders placed on the web-site, importing the customer record, credit card data and items ordered – even the calculated shipping. You are saving time while improving customer service and satisfaction. You are saving money – freeing yourself up from tedious “busy” work of managing the web store so you can work on things that are more productive.
