  • OUT OF SCOPE credit card processing using any card processor you like. CAYAN and Vantiv Integrated Payments are directly supported, and using CAYAN Payment Gateway Services you can use any card processor you like.
  • Credit Card Tokenization occurs with each transaction. Your card processor or CAYAN gateway will store the credit card – keeping the card data in safe hands AWAY from your system. It’s really ingenious how this works. You process a credit card, the card processor stores the card info at their end and return a token (an identifier number that is unique to your merchant ID and the customer’s card information) that is stored in your database. You can’t use the token “see” or otherwise use the actual credit card number. And neither can the “bad guys”. If someone stole your database they would have the tokens but ONLY your merchant account can use it to process a transaction. You can rest assured that your customer’s credit card data is safe!
  • Use tokenized credit cards to process repeat orders, phone orders, refunds all without needing the customer’s physical credit card allows you to quickly and conveniently deliver high level service to your customer – SAFELY
  • Recurring billing for memberships, ongoing club purchases, support contracts and subscriptions are processed with tokenized credit cards allows you to drive recurring revenue easily
  • SELL a store credit. This can be useful for customers who wish to prepay for products and services that are limited to one individual – think mom putting $50 on Jr’s account for summer camp. We have used this to migrate a merchant’s notebook full of customer credits.
  • Accounts Receivable Payments.
  • Customers can create a Wish List or set up a Gift Registry. Your customers will drive sales by sharing their Gift Registry with friends and family
  • Copy a sale from this customer or even another to eliminate detailed data entry. Do you have a customer that needs to reorder the same thing they bought the last month? We were able to delete that payment type once the old credits were completely entered in.
    • Monopoly Money (That’s to say that you can set up whatever you can imagine for valid “money” in your business.)
    • Another way to use this is if you give away promo money like “Store Bucks”.
  • External Credit Card Terminals work great too. The payment just isn’t part of the POS transaction.
  • Point Of Sale Max is partnered with the following Card Processors:

Backups and Security

  • Assign Numeric Values to Various functions within RetailEdge. For example you assign a security level 40 to perform a nightly register closing
  • Assign a 39 or lower security level to a part-time clerk who isn’t authorized to perform a register closing.
  • Assign 40 or higher to those you authorize to perform the task
  • Speaking of nightly closing. After closing RetailEdge will prompt you to save a backup to a folder on your computer or network
  • Set up a DropBox or Box, Or GoogleDrive or OneDrive account and be sure that RetailEdge save the backup in that folder.  You’ll have an offsite backup on the cloud!

QuickBooks Interface

You can optionally choose to link QuickBooks to your RetailEdge program.  As with ALL POS systems making that link, the QuickBooks program must be installed on the MAIN computer of the store. Those who prefer to work on QuickBooks at home would be better served by simply running appropriate reports and making Journal Entries.  There are advantages to both methods. You just need to weigh the pros and cons!

  • Enter your QuickBooks Account Names into RetailEdge being careful to match the spelling exactly
  • Authorize RetailEdge in QuickBooks to complete the Connection to RetailEdge

Multi-Store Chains

  • Location tracking shows each store where items are located.
  • Transfers and Transfer orders allow you to move product from one store to another
  • Instantly view Sales and Quantity information for one location or several locations or the entire chain
  • Multi-Store is actually a synchronization process called RECON where the SERVER at each store in the chain synchronizes with the main database.
    • Every store has a record of every customer including store credits and sales history
    • Gift Card balances are synchronized with every store
    • Because every store has a full copy of the entire database you have an inherent off site backup
